“Travel reminds us how magnificent the planet is, and how small we are as individuals. Nothing humbles you quite like standing on a ship’s bridge, staring out across an open ocean, or standing atop a volcano surrounded only by primary rainforest.”

Tom is a highly experienced field guide and expedition leader with a degree in Ecology and Conservation Management. Born and raised in the UK and now based in Australia, he brings a deep knowledge of the natural world and its inhabitants together with a genuine passion for storytelling and interpretation. His keen eye for wildlife and strong identification skills make him an exceptional guide and trip leader.

Having traveled to every continent and lived on five, Tom offers broad global experience, though he prefers to keep things simple—gravitating toward “either the poles or the tropics.” Some of his most memorable wildlife moments come during quiet Zodiac cruises with the engine off, fully immersed in the sounds of nature—whether in the tropical rainforests of Papua New Guinea or the glacial wilderness of Svalbard. He has witnessed extraordinary wildlife spectacles, from gorillas in Uganda and polar bears in the Arctic to birds-of-paradise displaying in Papua New Guinea. Still, his greatest joy is watching his daughters develop the same passion for nature, proudly spotting tawny frogmouths from “a mile away.”

When not guiding, Tom spends his time with his family, running SunButter (www.sunbutter.com.au), a reef-safe sunscreen and skincare company, and leading wildlife expeditions around the world.
