DAY 1
COLOMBO, SRI LANKA

Arrive in Colombo and transfer to the Jetwing Lagoon Hotel in Negombo, a peaceful coastal town near the airport. Settle in and unwind after your journey. This evening, gather with your leader and fellow travelers for a welcome dinner and trip overview.


DAY 2
COLOMBO / WILPATTU NATIONAL PARK

Depart overland for Wilpattu National Park, Sri Lanka’s oldest and largest protected area. After checking in to Ulagalla Resort, head out for your first safari. Keep watch for leopards, elephants, and sloth bears as you explore this remote and scenic wilderness.


DAY 3
WILPATTU NATIONAL PARK

Embark on a full-day safari, taking in Wilpattu’s varied landscapes—from dense forest to open plains and lakes. Enjoy breakfast and lunch in the park to maximize wildlife-viewing time. The park is rich in birdlife and home to over 30 mammal species.


DAY 4
WILPATTU / ANURADHAPURA / SIGIRIYA

Travel to Anuradhapura, the island’s first capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore ancient stupas, temples, and the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi, believed to be the oldest recorded tree on Earth. Continue on to Sigiriya for dinner and overnight.


DAY 5
SIGIRIYA / POLONNARUWA

Climb Sigiriya’s dramatic rock fortress, a masterpiece of ancient engineering and art. Later, visit Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka’s medieval capital, known for its reservoirs and well-preserved ruins. Highlights include colossal stone Buddhas, royal palaces, and both Hindu and Buddhist temples.


DAY 6
SIGIRIYA

Start the day with a sunrise hike up Pidurangala Rock for breathtaking views. After breakfast, relax or choose to meet a local folklore master for storytelling and tradition. In the evening, witness a live demonstration of Angampora, Sri Lanka’s ancient martial art.


DAY 7
SIGIRIYA / KANDY

Stop at Dambulla Rock Cave Temple, where centuries of paintings and Buddha statues fill the ancient chambers. Visit a spice garden for refreshments and insights into Sri Lanka’s famous exports. Arrive in Kandy, home to the Temple of the Tooth, and settle into the Jetwing Kandy Gallery.


DAY 8
KANDY

Explore the Royal Botanical Gardens, famed for orchids, palms, and rare tropical species. Enjoy free time this afternoon to relax or explore at your own pace. In the evening, visit the richly decorated Temple of the Tooth, which houses a revered relic of the Buddha.


DAY 9
KANDY / NUWARA ELIYA

Journey into Sri Lanka’s misty hill country, where Ceylon tea is grown. Stop for a tour and tasting at a working tea factory. Arrive in Nuwara Eliya, a charming colonial-era town, and enjoy an evening walk or time at leisure.


DAY 10
HORTON PLAINS NATIONAL PARK

Spend the day hiking through Horton Plains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its highland forests and sweeping views. Keep an eye out for sambar deer, endemic birds, and the famous World’s End escarpment. The cool climate and open landscapes offer a refreshing change of pace.


DAY 11
NUWARA ELIYA / GALLE

Travel to the southern coast and the historic port city of Galle. Explore Galle Fort, built by the Portuguese and expanded by the Dutch, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Check in to The Fortress Resort and enjoy time to relax or stroll the seaside town.


DAY 12
GALLE

Spend a leisurely morning enjoying the beach or hotel amenities. In the afternoon, return to Galle Fort to explore its colonial architecture, narrow lanes, and atmospheric churches. Gather in the evening for a festive farewell dinner.


DAY 13
GALLE / COLOMBO

Drive back to Colombo, Sri Lanka’s vibrant capital city. Visit key landmarks including Buddhist and Hindu temples, the Fort district, and Geoffrey Bawa’s famed Lunuganga garden. Check in to the Galle Face Hotel and enjoy a final evening at leisure.
