East Africa beckons to the adventurer in all of us. On this sweeping tour, enjoy a classic, yet intimate, safari experience with stays at luxurious tented camps situated in remote wilderness areas—including an innovative mobile camp that travels with the herd for wildlife-viewing like you’ve never seen. This is the safari experience you’ve dreamed of forever.
Arrive in Nairobi late evening and transfer to the Tamarind Tree for your overnight.
Fly to Loisaba, a 57,000-acre wildlife conservancy. Check in to our tented camp, set on an escarpment above a busy waterhole, and embark on our first game drive.
Enjoy two days of morning and afternoon game safaris. Search for giraffes, herds of elephants, and prides of lions. In addition, take a camel ride or explore by horseback.
Fly to the 70,000-acre Mara North Conservancy for two more days of safari. Freshen up in your luxurious tent or watch wildlife from your private veranda before heading out on safari.
Our safaris here reveal healthy populations of zebra, wildebeest, lions, and leopards. Mara North has fewer visitors than other reserves, giving you access to the action without the crowds.
This morning, fly to Lake Manyara and drive to Entamanu Ngorongoro, the ultimate highland retreat. Time permitting, visit a traditional Maasai village this afternoon.
Ngorongoro is the world’s largest intact caldera and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa. Descend 2,000 feet into the crater for a game drive among lions, elephants, and rhinos.
Take a half-day walk with a guide through acacia forests. Then drive to the Olduvai Gorge, where it all began. Continue to the Serengeti Plains where you’ll check in for three days and nights of some of the most authentic safari experience anywhere in Africa.
Your visit to the Serengeti Plains has been timed during calving season, a time of exciting viewing. Enjoy daily game drives through the grasslands here, spotting gazelles, topi, impala, lions, cheetahs, and hippos.
After a final camp breakfast, board our group flight to Kilimanjaro. Independent flights can be arranged any time after 4pm from Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO).
The trip starts in Nairobi, Kenya and ends in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania
Unhindered views of Mount Kenya, a canvas camp that moves with the mass migration of the wildebeest, a night under the open sky in a hand-crafted four-poster wooden bed—our African accommodations combine the best of unbridled adventure with cozy comforts.
Perched on the edge of an escarpment, Loisaba Tented Camp is designed to capitalize on unhindered views across Laikipia's mottled landscape all the way to Mt Kenya. All accommodations and main areas enjoy a breathtaking vantage point over an expansive panorama.
The camp’s remote location in the Mara North Conservancy, the heart of the Masai Mara ecosystem, allows the stars to shine bright at night. You’ll enjoy the unique experience of listening to the sounds of lion, leopard and hyena foraging and hunting, while being pampered with traditional and modern comforts such as a campfire and cozy duvets.
Following one of the world’s most stunning private drives, we bring you up to a dizzying edge of elemental Africa with panoramic views spinning forward into the Crater and back to the Serengeti plains. This is much more than a great vantage point for visiting the Crater, this is where we live the Ngorongoro life.
A million and a half wildebeest and zebra can’t be wrong, and this camp never settles for less. This canvas home-from-home and its indomitable crew are on the move year-in, year-out from one sweet Serengeti site to another, guided by the mass movements of the wildebeest migration and their quest for ever greener grass. Along with it come our highly trained naturalist guides and all the trimmings of a classic safari.
