DEPARTURE
The trip starts in Port Moresby, New Guinea and ends in Jakarta, Indonesia.
I love every opportunity to return to this island, full of diversity both in the natural world and, more importantly, the human diversity of cultural expression. People are exceptionally attached to their cultures and proud to continue the traditions passed down from their ancestors for 50,000 years. While they are firmly in the 21st century, they are guided by the lessons learned from their forefathers. I am inspired by the deep knowledge of their environment and their ability to support themselves from one generation to the next.”
